Walk Of Fame Park

The WALK-OF-FAME park located at 416 East 3rd Street, Texarkana, Arkansas 71854, was built by the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium Commission to honor the people that performed on the stage in the Historic Arkansas Municipal Auditorium (AMA) since it’s opening in 1930.    The AMA was one of the stops on the circuit made by the stars of the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport – people like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jim Ed Brown (to name a few).  Performers like Mae West and Louis Armstrong also appeared there.  You may remember the movie ‘Walk the Line’, where Johnny Cash, Elvis and others were in Texarkana, TX (according to the movie)? Well, that was actually in this auditorium attached to one of our fire departments right next door to this park. As money becomes available, various types of art will be put into this park.

The WALK-OF-FAME park also contains a brick wall made from brick that was saved when the building that had fallen down on that site was leveled and removed.   At one time, part of that building had been used as the stable for the fire horses that pulled the fire wagons.   One of the wooden frames in the wall (and all of the bars) were part of the original building – they were used to let air into the stable for the horses.
